Camp is Achievable!

Just because children are out of school during the summer, doesn't mean that learning has to stop! Summer camp is a fun and exciting way for kids of all ages to stay social, be active and learn all summer long.

Camp can be especially rewarding for children with autism who face challenges in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interaction and psychosocial functioning. Specialized summer camps provide many fun activities that meet a variety of special needs. These camps offer a safe place for kids with autism to gain independence, confidence, self-reliance, life skills and self-esteem. Without the structure and support provided by these camps, many children regress in their annual educational, social and independent living goals. Sending a child to camp also provides much-needed rest for deserving parents and caregivers.

Each year, Achievable awards camp scholarships to children with autism from low-income families who do not have the financial means or supports to provide their kids with typical camp experiences. Through Camp is Achievable!, over 50 children each summer have the opportunity to attend specialized summer camps in Southern California that promote healthy learning, improve socialization and communication skills, and provide enriching life experiences.
